Strategic Implementation Areas were created after the Oregon Legislature passed the Agricultural Water Quality management Act directing the Department of Agriculture to develop plans and associated regulations to prevent and control water pollution from agricultural activities and achieve water quality standards. The Strategic Implementation areas allow local conservation districts to play a significant role in creating partnerships with local farmers, watershed councils and other groups to use resources efficiently to improve agricultural water quality.
